Do you remember Oppo Reno? Oppo Reno 2 is the next innovative and improved version of that device. The main highlight of the device is that it got four cameras at the back of the mobile. This is a hands-on review and detailed version of the review will be posted later.
Oppo Reno 2
Every brand is equipping its devices according to the feature, they want to be the master of in the market. Oppo started with the camera obsession in the market and produced many great mobile camera phones. But it is excelling in every part and feature of the phone. The design is the first thing you notice when you hold a mobile. And Oppo Reno 2 oozes the style and charm through its design.
Starting from the back of the phone, which is a spectacle to see. There are four cameras, lined up, in the centre of the device. And there is no bump because of the cameras. But you will see the strip below the cameras which has “Oppo” illuminated at the bottom of the back. At the top of that strip is a small nub which keeps the device from laying flat on the surface. The body has a metal frame which is covered with glass. The back also attracts finger smudges which can become a problem as you might smudge the cameras too.
The front of the mobile is as good looking as the back of the phone. There is a 6.55-inch Dynamic AMOLED display. And it is all-screen display without any interruption. The bezels are quite thin on the display and of course, you remember the shark-fin camera module that we saw on the Oppo Reno, this phone has it too. There is an in-display fingerprint sensor for security purposes. This sensor has yet to be extensively checked for its working but we will tell in the full review of the device.
The power button is on the right side of the device and volume rockers are on the left side of the device. While the bottom carries the USB Type-C and a headphone jack which is diminishing in many new flagship devices. And this device carries and holds on to it, is very pleasant for all the people who like wired headphones. The edges of Oppo Reno 2 are curved and the design is sleek and attractive. This sometimes makes the mobile slip from your hands and you might wanna get the cover for your mobile. The mobile looks quite premium while holding in the hand and it matches the like of OnePlus 7, Redmi K20 and even the Oppo Reno.
Oppo Reno 2 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor which is fast enough for carrying out your day-to-day tasks. We have also seen this processor in the Redmi K20 and both the devices are fast enough for all type of tasks. Oppo Reno 2 has 8GB RAM which makes it fly even. The device has 256GB of internal memory which is quite enough for all type of users. The device runs on Android 9 which doesn’t remain the latest now and ColorOS 6 provides a better and clean UI with many customization options.
There are 4 cameras at the back of the device. The main camera is a 48MP lens and by now you would have understood that this camera doesn’t take default 48MP images and there is the technology behind it which makes images more acceptable and viewable. Then there is an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 13MP telephoto lens and a 2MP Macro lens. Oppo also promised 20x zoom with the camera and we have to see how much the brand keep its promises. The number looks promising and they are quite effective in many other devices and we have to see how they work out for Oppo Reno 2
The front camera was also an attraction for us in Oppor Reno and it also has the same effect here. The shark-fin like structure when you switch to the front camera. There is a 16MP front camera which is responsible for taking some splendid selfies. There is also a soft light on the module which illuminates your selfies especially if you are in a dark environment. This camera is also used for facial recognition which you can use to unlock your phone. This facial recognition system is far better than the in-display fingerprint sensor. Well, in most devices, but we have to check it further.
There are also said to be many new video modes introduced in Oppo Reno 2. In many recent devices, we have seen many new modes for the videos which make your videos interesting and worth watching.
Oppo Reno 2 has a 4000mAh battery in it which is sufficient for almost all type of users. But the actual condition and performance of the battery will be discussed in the full review of the device. There is also a fast charger in the box to charge the device quickly.
Oppor Reno 2 is definitely a change in the lot of smartphones that look like the same. But this device is not far from the Oppo Reno that we have seen already. But there seem to be some upgradations and new features in the device which were not present in the previous device. The processor and performance of the mobile are seemed to be improved. Though the camera results are not that impressive, they can be improved with the software updates. We’ll see more about Oppo Reno 2 in our full review.
